The Village Tearoom
About This Spot
Stepping into The Village Tearoom feels a bit like settling into a treasured corner of Hatfield Heath, where time loosens its grip and the quiet rhythm of the village gently pulses through the air. Nestled just off Stortford Road, this cozy café invites you to slow down and savor moments, whether you're catching up with friends or simply enjoying a pause in your day. The outlook onto the nearby church and the Heath itself offers a subtle reminder of the village’s tranquil pace, creating a softly lit backdrop that suits a leisurely breakfast or an afternoon break.
The mood here is unhurried and welcoming, marked by an easy kindness from the friendly staff who seem to know the importance of both good coffee and genuine conversation. The space carries the warmth of a local living room—familiar, comfortable, and layered with the quiet hum of community life. Whether you're dropping by with a dog or celebrating a special occasion, there’s a gracious attentiveness that makes each guest feel right at home.
Menus at The Village Tearoom read like a love letter to classic British café fare, enriched with little touches that bring freshness and homely charm. From morning staples like freshly scrambled eggs on toast or the simple pleasure of a crisp baguette to the delicate visual delight of afternoon tea, the choices are approachable yet thoughtfully prepared. Complemented by cakes and scones that often inspire a second visit, each bite feels like part of a gentle ritual, quietly punctuated by the low clink of cups and the soft chatter of familiar voices.
This is a place where small celebrations feel just right—a birthday shared over cakes and teas, an impromptu brunch with a sunny view, or that satisfying moment when you find your ideal cup of coffee. Parking just a short stroll away and an inviting interior make The Village Tearoom a steady companion for both locals and visitors who appreciate the kind of place where the personality of a village truly shines through.

Lovely cafe on the Heath where Sky and I often pop in for a coffee and slice of toast. The waitresses are all friendly, and make a big fuss of Sky.

We had Afternoon Tea for our friends birthday and it was lovely! The food & drink was delicious & it was presented beautifully! The staff were friendly, welcoming & attentive. The whole tearoom was spotless & our event booth was beautiful! The atmosphere of the tearoom was really lovely and we very much enjoyed our time there. We’ll definitely be returning. Thank you!

Visited at 11am for brunch on a Monday, they used to take bookings, which I think is recommend for weekends Ordered French toast, which was lovely but was missing the cream, they corrected after I mentioned it. Our table gave us a lovely view of the church on the Health, on this sunny day. Recommend a visit, I will return. Not sure if under new Management. Enjoyed my afternoon tea at The Hatfield Tearoom, very polite staff.

I have visited the Tea Rooms a few times lately and it’s 5/5 every visit. A slight European flavour in some of the options makes for an amazing menu. Food always presented and cooked very well. Highly recommended:)
